It's gonna be the future soon...

In fabulous random good news, my (extremely late and HR demanded) 90 day review happened today. Apparently I exceed expectations in every way. I R AWESOME! Go Go Gadget Me! Have I mentioned lately that I really like this job? Because I do. Even though it has been quite difficult for me to drag my lazy ass into an office on a regular basis, this ( Read more... )

Awww, you're so sweet. I'm pretty sure HR wanted the formal paperwork, though. HR is like that. ;) My boss did say to them, "Really? Can't I just tell you that my people are working fine and I want to keep them?"

I came across your journal accidentally, and just had to stop for a read.

I define sugar made from corn as candy corn, and lots of it. Now that's celebrating!

I get the feeling that you don't live in the NY City area, but if you did, I'd love to introduce you to my daughter. She currently lives in Bayonne, NJ, and is unemployed after having been a magazine editor for 15 years. Is there a position open where you're so very appreciated? If so, let me know, because it reads like a good place for her... working with someone who is "corny" and fun, and for someone who knows what it means to a person when she knows her good work has not gone un-noticed. Her morning hours are exactly like yours too.

My best to you this day, and... keep up the good work!

Thanks, Jane - in fact I live on the opposite coast, in Seattle. I'm working for Seattle Children's Hospital as a research assistant. My sympathies to your daughter: I know so many people who've been laid off recently, and it's so hard to get work right now. I hope she finds something soon. SCH has technically frozen hiring, although some positions need filling, and knowing someone who knows someone seems to be the major employment sweet spot - for everywhere, not just here. Networking (not my strong suit, so I sympathize) is the only advice I have that I think is worth anything.

You're welcome to read the blog any time - I post semi-regularly and I tend to be weird and offbeat most of the time, and I like to think I entertain my friends, at least. :) Glad you liked the post! My best back atcha!
