Actually, Fra, I think there's alot of glory in teaching. I can count many teachers who I truly believed changed my life and my way of thinking. And because they did that, my children will be raised differently, I'll approach situations differently, etc.
The problem with teaching is there is no MEASURED amount of glory- mostly because it has such wide latitude and great depth that it can't be measured. Unfortunatly, we live in a world that relies on measurements of greatness: grades, records, trophies, bmws, etc. Screw all of that! The most important things can't be seen or touched.
~ Em ps. I do know how you feel. I mean, I want to go to nursing school! Do you remember the names of any of the nurses you've ever had? Me either. But dammit, I know the name of every doctor who walked in and out of my room with a clipboard and didn't even look at me. Talk about a thankless job. But, I really think that if you really want to make a difference you're going to go unnoticed. Society sucks that way.
