wow. that definitely forces us to turn back a few pages...

I actually have a page on cro-magnon man in a kiddie encyclopaedia (I say kiddie because I got it when I was about five, and it's designed for 'young readers. yes, I used to read encyclopaedias, lol) and the whole concept behind it. I thought it was a bit far-fetched.

I don't know much about the paleolithic era, but I'm sure I learned about Cro-Magnon Man as a homo sapiens sapiens. I didn't know that there was an idea that he belonged to the same species as Neanderthal Man.
This whole scandal - I wouldn't have been surprised if something like that happened in my country, but in Germany? German scientists are known to be so pedantic and precise. How could his co-workers have failed to notice that he was making things up?
