Starvationists

Aug 12, 2014 16:30

From now I shall use a new word. The kind of people who argue against a minimum wage are neither conservative (how DARE they?) nor libertarian. They are starvationists. Remember the word: STARVATIONISTS.

subhumanity, american politics, economy, hunger, sinister contemporary trends, economics, ayn rand, human folly, abomination, degeneracy, extremism, cynicism, fads, sense of entitlement

Due respect, some countries we consider First World theoretically have no minimum wage or have only had it recently. Instead, legally empowered trade unions (who are often guaranteed seats on boards of directors) and management are compelled by the government to reach an accord on wages and working conditions for each industry. Now of course, in practice, this results in de facto, if not de jure minimum wages (which are usually high for the West.)

Well, I can hardly imagine the people I call starvationists advocating that kind of cooperation with trades unions. They would be likelier to want to see them banned.
