Things that have been going on

I am not well and rather low in energy. I have an obstinately infected scratch in a leg that simply will not heal, and I have been prescribed some antibiotics that don't seem to be doing a whole lot of good - the swelling and stiffness are there still - but are, on the other hand, cutting down my energy and vigour. I am very sorry about your leg, and the resulting fatigue. I do hope it heals soon.

The story about the ghosts sounds very interesting and sad.

I'm with super_pan. A ghost story - an epic ghost story, spanning two great wars - sounds very romantic. And you could throw your whole imagination into crafting it, with all the history and symbolism and political machinations you want to talk about, and any magic you need for the ghosts.
How is your blood sugar? Let your clinicians know about wounds which don't heal. Sometimes the medicine needs extra help. Now is not the time to suffer like an old soldier (no matter how much good it may do your story to slog through the winter on a bad leg like a tragic war hero).

I spoke with them, and the course of antibiotics was the result - but it does not seem to have worked. It's an infuriating situation, but let's count our blessings: although the wound is infected, it's not growing or even very painful, and the only way I really feel it is by stiffness in my lower leg - which I barely notice when I walk. All the same, it has to go, and I will ask for another appointment to discuss the matter further.

If done properly, this could carry a lot of the sense of grief and loss and wrong that attaches to both wars.

I wish you the best of luck with that. As you have probably gathered, I am trying something along similar lines. It is not easy, but very absorbing all the same.
