Not that I wish any more years of Gheddafi on anyone, but the hypocrisy spouted on all sides about his refusal to budge and resolution to fight it out to the death beggars belief. It is quite a bit safer (about five times) to have an abortion than to give birth, at least in the United States. But the US does have a terrible maternal death rate; I'm not sure of the UK.

...and you never even seem aware of the insanity of placing abortion and childbirth on the same level, or talking as though the comparative safety of them as surgical procedures even began to be a consideration.

The comparison seems reasonable only in that a pregnant woman who doesn't have an abortion must necessarily give birth, whereas the delay or avoidance of other elective surgical procedures carries no such consequence. (NOT that pregnancy is a pathology, simply that it has a more predictable outcome than a torn ACL.)

I really wish we could speak in person sometime. You put a lot of things into uncomfortably appropriate wording that I've been trying to devise terms to express for years.

Don't know about in person, but when I get my computer system straightened out - it's a joke at present, though I'm not laughing - I'll equip it with Skype and a few IM systems, so maybe we can talk in real time. Are you thinking of anything in particular?
