Fire

Sep 03, 2005 14:45

I have had a fire in the kitchen in my flat. I was not in danger, but the damage was serious, and repairing will cost me a lot of money.

At least you aren't burned, and it was only the kitchen. (expensive repairs, but contained). I don't suppose you had renter's insurance? Or that the landlord can help fix things with the policy on the whole property?

No insurance. The landlord did not have it either, and he has indicated that he expects me to cover the costs.

Eek! What happened?

Glad to hear you're okay.

Chip pan fire. Damage, ceiling and walls need to be re-decorated, electrical system shot (I am on the computer because it is on a different circuit), hob destroyed, three doubleglazed windowpanes need replacing, many odds and ends gone. Right now, if someone could show me the way to make some money rather fast, I would be grateful.

Four words that helped me greatly after my car accident:

Five dollar hand jobs.

Oh, also a large extractor fan and three larder units gone. Enough to be getting on with - just the time when I had cleared all my debts.

I'm glad you're safe. I'm sorry for your loss. And I hope that you lost little that can't be replaced by money.

If I had the money, that would be a comforting thought.

Er... the fire, not the fact that you're safe. That part is good. :)

It does stink. In the literal sense of the word. Not to mention scatter soot all over the flat.
