Series Seven

May 19, 2010 18:12

So I've been having Internet and Computer Issues and am going through lj stuff to see what I missed. I was expecting a post or two (or three) about the new series. Does anyone have a comment post/thread to direct me to? Otherwise, I nominate this one.

And I post under a cut so as to prevent spoilage )

I'm kind of surprised there haven't been any episode reaction discussions/posts, too. I'd have done some myself, but my life has been crazy the last month.

So thank you! Now I have something to respond to! :)

I can't even begin to describe how thrilling it was to have Foyle on my television screen again. And he was so snarky at times! I love it when Foyle is snarky. And I just wanted to hug him through the entire second episode.

I need Milner to stop being a jerkface, but I very much approve of Adam. I was so afraid, when he first showed up, that he was going to somehow be a bad guy. Not so! Yay.

I very, VERY much hope we get to see Foyle in America. Where I can I donate money to that fund?

Edited because, as it turns out, "being" and "begin" do not mean the same thing.

Firstly, I cannot believe you have a life outside television and the internet. Ashamed of you I am! ;)

We could all inundate ITV with letters and e-mails and packages of fly fishing ties. (I mean, if Planters peanuts worked for 'Jericho'...) Though didn't they actually make it last spring? So obviously the turn-around time is rather long.

Good! Someone talking about the new Foyle's at last! (Yes, now I have something to respond to too!)
I love how the characters are now, a few months later after the war, even if Milner is a bit twit, but, hey, is totally understandable, he's missing the team very much and then all he wants is to prove himself to Foyle. What I didn't like at all was Milner's sergeant, he looked like a wannabe gangster from the thirties or something like this.
About Adam, well, yes I like him more than Andrew, but I'm not sure he's right for Sam. We'll see.
At the begining I didn't like the idea of Foyle going to America, but then I thought maybe he's going to catch the American guy he had to let go because of the war (in "Fifty Ships").

And sorry for the mistakes, English it's not my first language.

No need for apologies for the English - I understood you perfectly.

And I do 'get' Milner's attitude, I just don't like it. It makes me sad to think of how close they used to be, but that's what happens in life.

I think we aren't meant to like the new sergeant. Aside from being rather...uncivilized...he's also painted as Very Bad At His Job. I would've like to have seen Brookie (is that is name? The second uniform sergeant who basically 'manned the front desk' in the later series') become a detective. I think he would've been really good.

(Personally, I'm still rooting for Christopher and Sam, but as my mother reminds me, no matter how he might feel he would *never* do that. It would be like every other period English movie all reserved and stiff upper lip and such.)

As for America, I also seem to remember some mess with the American Colonel (or was he a Major?) that he was friends with who did something Christopher was really unhappy about but let slide. I just can't get my brain to work at the moment...

Yeah, those Milner reactions were really nice. A bit 'what, exactly, have I gotten myself into?' And the third film did help a little bit; he gets major points for apologizing rather than just realizing his mistake earlier ( ... )

The possibility of another season is still undecided. It depends if they can get the money for another series and if the cast still wants to do more.

That was the first case that Milner was in charge on his own. I think he fears that other people might think he is not up to the job if his old boss has to show up to look over his shoulder. I think his defensive attitude made sense, but it was taken too far. He wasn't assertive, he was just plain rude. I think it was out of character for him. But I was really annoyed at the end. Milner realized his mistake, but it seemed like Foyle didn't want to accept his apology. I was literally talking back to my TV, "Shake hands, now!"

I like Adam better than Andrew, too!

I seem to remember the shows creator has said he wouldn't want to do cases from the time period they skipped over, because the actors have aged. Although, my thought for the day was: they could always do cold cases where Foyle just hears about an unsolved case from the past.

I just watched The Russian House and loved it, jerk Milner and all. I had to wait for disc. I hope on the US trip that Foyle is going after the murderous magnate from Fifty Ships! *grrr* *shakes fist*

Up next: Killing Time! Come on, Netflix!
