Do you know if there's a recording of Love's Labours Lost?

I was under the impression that the RSC have recordings of all their productions for archive purposes, but they're not considered 'polished' enough for public release.

I think it's a crying shame, if that's true, because such recordings would give a true sense of the theatrical event for those unable to attend.

In light of the National Theatre's recent endeavour to broadcast live to cinemas and theatres around the UK (Pheadre, All's Well That Ends Well, etc), I hope they change their mind soon!

I read the play some time ago, and just sat there thinking he'd kill this role. I hope they release it as a DVD, and not just in zone 1 format, everyone deserves to partake of that performance.

He completely owns this role and gives an amazing performance. So convincing I dislike him (only till the curtain call though).

Oh, come on, him raging around stage in his jammies probably lessened the hatred of Jimmy?! I think Jimmy and Stanley Kawalski are on the same level, but we always kind of like them both, 'cause we're out of our minds for their charisma.

Yep! That's why dislike was all I could muster. Even as he spoke the most hate filled words I was looking at the abs. ;)

Given the popularity of David Tennant, you'd think the V&A would be glad to cash in and make this available on DVD - can't believe they wouldn't be glad of the money!

It sounds like a fantastic production.

(And had I been in your shoes, I'd have turned around and berated the woman with the phone!)

I settled for my best evil stare and she took the hint.

It is a fantasic production that should be shared. I hope the V&A take notice.

Ah, the oft-neglected evil stare - always useful! Glad she took the hint!

Maybe we should all ask the V&A? Let them know how much interest there'd be...

I thought I'd see what the V&A say. They might hold the material but not the copyright. I'll try and find out who owns the copyright and then we can be sure we're asking the right person. Then YES let's all ask loudly. :)
