"Mon Dieu, Arthur," Mallorie whispered as she looked up and down at him, taking in the painful hobble and the new 1st LT bar. "I had not heard. How did this happen?"
Arthur shrugged - not exactly the easiest task when on crutches - and smiled briefly at her, dimples flickering across his face. "I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you."
"So secretive as always," she chided gently, her gaze lingering on his uniform, the Purple Heart, the Silver Star. "Is that why they finally let you come back to the US, to work with us again?"
"More's the pity," he said. "My Pashto was getting good, too." He levered himself slowly and carefully onto a chair, resting his weight on his left leg once he took himself off the crutch. "How have you been, and how is Dominic?" he asked softly, his own gaze flickering over her newly-shorn hair, the new wedding ring on her left hand.
"We are -" she smiled and blushed at his grave stare, the wry smile implied in the lines around his eyes. "Arthur.""I heard that ( ... )

More of Arthur's unrequited love for the two of them, or? I've got lots of stuff from the headcanon I drew this from - his discharge via DADT? The mix of emotions when Philippa is born and they ask him to be her godfather, or when Mal says that she's going to name her son after him (hence, James' middle name is Arthur)? Perhaps how he handles things during Mal's funeral?

Yeah, it'd probably make a lot of people cry, in between the hilarity that is Arthur's first meeting with Eames (which, incidentally, happens shortly after this bit here, in my head).
Oh, and after that is also the tale of how Eames actually knew Arthur's ex well enough to forge her (you know, that bit in the French Drop when they're training Ariadne in hand-to-hand.)
I have this all worked out, I just don't have the time to write it right now. Stupid fine art major. Why did I decide it was a good idea in the first place?
