I just had my trick looked over again at the dealership...and what's the final result?

I NEED A NEW TRUCK!!!Yeah, the Vixen is no longer worth keeping. She's got major leakage...exhaust and oil (needs new pan gasket and valve cover gasket), two ball joints that also need alignment and bad brakes on both sides. The total cost for all of those ( Read more... )

No, the truck is a Ford, and Fords are the worst pieces of crap on the road. You don't believe me? My dad and the step-mom both have Fords and they're crapping out on them in the worst possible way. I've seen Chevys last longer than that. Like I said, there is no way I'm buying another Ford again.

Mm... we go through similar experiences, don't we?

Yeah, I agree with the Ford thing. I never would touch a Ford.

My suggestion... You already said Toyotas. I don't know anything about Nissans. You may also wanna check out Hondas. If you go with Chevy or any other GM car, my BIGGEST suggestion is to make absolutely SURE that the engine under that hood is either a 3800 series or a Chevy Small Block. Trust me... Bean was an Impala, but I had the misfortune of getting the 3400 series engine instead of the 3800 engine and she cost me a crap ton in the end.

I would suggest Buicks, actually. They tend to have the 3800 series engine, or other more reliable engines. We got our Le Sabre for $1400, so if you check out Craigslist, you'll probably find some good deals on those.

I'm looking for a pick-up truck, and Honda doesn't make pick-up trucks. Neither does Buick. And I don't like cars for anything. The Nissan Frontier is a damn good truck, and the Toyota Tacoma is like the best one you can get because you can get a 4X4 with a 4 cylinder engine (something no other truck can do). If I have to go American, I have to get with a Chevy S10. Those are much better than the crappy Ford Ranger I have now (and I'm not getting a Mazda because that's the exact same thing as a Ranger). I would not look at at a Dodge truck worth anything. Those things suck up fuel like you wouldn't believe.

So, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, and Chevy S10 are my only options.

That's because Mazda is owned in part by Ford! That's why they suck!

I highly recommend Toyota because the Japanese actually know what they're doing when it comes to vehicles. Also, I know it's not a truck, but Jeeps are great. I have a jeep that's been running HARD since 1994. It was my mom's car, and she ran service in it for 12 years.

Hey, I'll take a compact SUV as well, just as long as it has a clutch in it. Jeeps are close to trucks as you can get. And at least one of Chrysler's brands is trustworthy (I don't like Dodge too much).

Jeeps are a load of fun. My good pal in college drove/drives one... sunny Saturday drives with the roof off... nothing nicer. :)

Mine is a 2 door jeep cherokee, but I agree, driving around in a Wrangler with the top down is good tiemz

*hides her Mustang* XD But then, it's not driven so much because of it being a classic car. ;)

Not sure what would be best for you though. :\ The cars I tend to like are the kinds other people despise. o.O

Don't worry. It's okay.

I'm only into trucks or compact SUVs. Anything that's not a Ford (or apart of the Ford Motor Company) will do.

I was hiding it 'cause it's a Ford. ;)

I should have said 'vehicles' and not 'cars'. *laughs at herself* I do that sometimes.

is a Saturn out of the question? *curious* mine is about twelve years old and runs pretty well, considering how long it goes between tuneups.

they don't, last I checked, make trucks--but they have ventured into the SUV world. I don't know if they make compact ones or not, but it's worth a shot to look into.

Saturn is out of the question. They do make the Vue which is a mid-sized SUV, but those things don't come with clutches, so that's a no-no for me.
