School Thoughts

I've been doing some thinking about school. Considering all my options, I think that if I can't get into Webster University like I want to, I'll instead go for an Associates in Communication Arts major at Forest Park CC, and see if there are any other four year colleges or universities I can get into to continue to a bachelors (I'm going to keep ( Read more... )

Don't you qualify for need-based financial aid? What about an African American scholarship or grant?

This is more like long-term thinking. It's not like I'm going to transfer to Webster in the next year. I'm nowhere near ready right now. This year, I neglected to fill out my FAFSA early enough (like before April) to even get any other scholarships or grants, and the Pell Grant this year was not enough to cover my tuition, and just in case I'm not for any other year, I'm just trying to consider all of my options, not just narrow them down to just having only one.

Well, like I said in the post, I'm going to take up the AA in Communication Arts w/Film Option. That'll at least break some grounds.

I only want to use loans as a last resort, since I'm still paying back my bank loan from last year, and I'm only half way finished paying it off. As for Barnes, I've been trying to get on with them, but they have nothing for me right now.

Go to FastWeb or similar websites and sign up for an account. Try applying for as many scholarships as you can before you resort to loans. There's plenty of money out there that you don't have to pay back. Working on your portfolio is just as important as looking for college funds. Do that, and you may qualify for more scholarships than what you do currently.

I'm registered and looking around. Maybe there might be something there that'll cover the $262 that I have to pay out of pocket.

Oh, I do get financial aid. Sometimes, even what I do end up getting is not enough, so I need some extra help. This year, I didn't fill out my student FAFSA (financial aid application) before April, so I missed out on some other grants and scholarships. It's was a mishap on my part, but I'm trying to make up for it.
