my secret is being made of win and awesome i suppose.
really though, I set my camera to almost full manual, fiddle around and take a LOT of pictures. Eventually some really stand out and I pick them and post them to Flickr. Think from my set of ~20 I took 175 pictures. Having my 40D doesn't hurt any in making them look polished right out of the gate.
I really need to get out and take more photos more often.
