Oh man, I had to rummage around in my memory before I came up with Amatsuki, even after reading your description. I remember thinking it was pretty cool at the time for world-building reasons like you said, but 3 years later I can't remember anything about it other than the Edo Japan setting.

Yeah, it was pretty neat, but I can understand it being that forgettable.
