Move Over First Amendment - Christians Have Thin Skins!

A federal judge denied a motion to dismiss a lawsuit against a history teacher for making disparaging remarks about Christians during class.  Interesting arguments here, such as, “…yes, he was making that point [about Joseph II's efforts], but he also included his own point…” because everyone knows, especially in an AP History class that history is ( Read more... )

And maybe, based on this statement from the judge
"I believe there's a plausible case," Selna said in a Santa Ana courtroom. "… What we face at trial and summary judgment is a different matter."
He is wanting to get to trial so he can issue a summary judgement that can be used by others.
By dismissing the case, there would be no judgement for the record.

Oh, I don't think a judge wants to hear this case just to get it out in the open. Dismissing a case because it lacks merit also speaks volumes.

Regardless, it's a silly and stupid case, and a sad commentary that Christians, for example, can say almost anything they want about most any other less popular faith, but when it comes to Christianity itself, the rules are different. I have a real hard time with a majority religion claiming victim status. I guess he should consider himself fortunate. Had he been teaching in say, Saudi Arabia and said such things about Mohammad, they would have just chopped his head off. Christians aren't quite to that point -- yet.

Actually, we are past that point.

Say what he said in Europe from 500 to 1700 and you might have been burned.

Odd that I was Christian for 35 years and know more about the Spaghetti Monster theory than the "traditional view" of ED. I'm going to have think about this more because I haven't a clue what the traditional view is. Hmmm, or maybe not.....

I didn't realize there was a specific Christian point of view on erectile dysfunction. Are they for it or against it? I'm assuming it's God's Will if your penis doesn't rise, just like it's God's Will if I get pregnant or not. But given that it is a patriarchal religion, I wouldn't be surprised if Viagra was deemed "Divinely Inspired".

Gives a whole new meaning to an "uplifting sermon", eh?
