A Good Army Day

Two days, actually.  APFT, urinalysis (not so much fun), SAEDA (Subversion and Espionage Directed Against the US Army) training, and mission support "in the building".  Some frustrations, but overall not a bad weekend.  I'm just getting back to drilling, and am taking over as NCOIC of my team.  I'll see how things play out in the near future.  Gods ( Read more... )

Over 40%--I didn't realize that.

I'm hearing that the new standard is 12 months deployed, 6 at home.

A friend's husband just got back after 12 months in Iraq and was told he'd be home for a year. He was at his dad's funeral when he got a call that he was going back in a week--after being home for only 5 months.

Yeah, reserve takes it in the shorts. Active duty goes for 36 months dwell time. The reserve tries for a year. But that's a guideline, not policy.

BTW, the men and women killed on Ft. Hood were not killed by some deranged gunman.

And I am so sickened by the PC spin, being spun out. It seems to me, who knows nothing of the military, that a PC handling of this, would do more to demoralize our fighting forces, than anything. And when I follow this line of thinking out, it sounds diabolical.

The shootings themselves may not demoralize, but a soft handling of the shooter... Well... It sure will demoralize me.
