The Wind-Up Worm Chronicle - A Kira/Gin/Kira FST

Aug 07, 2010 20:39

The concept behind this mix is basically Kira's life story -- or what we know of it, at least -- with a little splash of my own admittedly biased speculation tacked on at the end. Title is bastardized from the book The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, the story of which has nothing to do with Kira, aside from their both being two of my ( Read more... )

I have come to the conclusion that every FST ever should have some permutation of Florence + Machine.

I am listening to this as I type. I can only say that OMG YOU PUT PAINT IT BLACK ON THERE! That is one of my favorite old school rock songs. OF ALL TIME.

I didn't even notice (until just now) that you had little thoughts that went with each song. WHAT A FREAKING LOVELY SURPRISE!!! I'm especially fond of "In Our Talons," and how the lyrics go so well with what the song stands for... Oh, poor Kira, Momo, and Hisagi. (Looks like Renji's unruly ways actually did him some good for once, eh? The boy thinks he has no luck, but Aizen did ship him off to Byakuya to get him out of their hair, lol, and he was the only one spared out of that Academy group.)

INCHWORM IS CREEPILY AWESOME. It definitely shows the... strangeness that is the Third, and when I listen to it I imagine an old movie reel (and I mean old, with that kind of creepy, jumpy quality that comes with age), of some poor kid gallivanting in a seemingly pleasant, blossoming field, only to notice that the animals look a little st(de)range(d) and out of sorts...

MINE TOO. I thought about throwing a cover of it up there 'cause everything else is comparatively modern, and I generally like covers, but in Paint It Black's case there's just no improving on the original.

I'm glad you like In Our Talons! I never get tired of listening to that song, it's so sinister~ ^^ And Renji's "exile" from that group makes me really curious as to how he got along with Aizen and especially Gin. I'd love to read something wherein his time in the Fifth is really explored, and just who he was fighting with so often that made him such an unsuitable candidate (despite Kira, Momo and Shuuhei being such obvious ones).

Inchworm could've been written with Kira specifically in mind, couldn't it? I kind of think of it as being sung to him by Gin, since it's a children's song and Gin is so childish/impish. And I looove your creepy film visual for it, like Kira's in some gradually deteriorating Wonderland. . .oh yeah, my brain is doing a lot with that one. >:D

No. Definitely can't get any better than the original. But you have covers? I haven't heard any covers for Paint It Black, and now I'm curious!

I've also decided that I really love Tristan as a Kira song!! Fuck, the lyrics are just perfect for him *g* But back to Renji. I've never much considered how he got along with Aizen and Gin... though I did think that the conversation he had with Aizen on the execution hill was interesting as hell. I imagine that Renji would fight with Gin in a scowling-and-muttering-in-the-corner kind of way (kind of like he does in your BLV story, now that I recall...), and that's actually been in my head canon for a while, as another obstacle for Byakuya in his quest to avoid Gin. LOL.

Sung to Kira by Gin is awesome. And now I've reminded of that time long ago when you linked me to all of those Alice in Wonderland pictures. Alice!Kira, ChesireCat!Gin, and Akon as the smoking caterpillar. Now excuse me while I mentally assign everyone else..
