Moving moving moving, got to keep on moving

So evidently our downstairs-to-the-right neighbors are punks, literally. While Alex was gone, the teenagers came up to the storage room, took the doors to the units off the hinges (they were locked), took stuff, and put them back on. We were able to find out very quickly where his stuff had gone, because they had his sleeping bag in the BACKSEAT OF THEIR CAR. We have some absolutely brilliant people here, folks.

Alex called the police, they got a warrant, came over and found some more of the stolen stuff--just not most of the expensive stuff (hullooooo scuba and camping gear), which I'm assuming they sold. The stuff they did recover was in bad/damaged condition. They'd stolen his air conditioning unit and had it on the floor in the middle of of their living room, demonstrating a total misunderstanding of thermodynamics. Stolen bikes in the back.

Mom was covering for them, saying they thought it was abandoned. (O rly? Nobody asked me whether it was my stuff in those units. Don't think they asked the landlord whose stuff it was, either.) Police hinted that the kids had a history, saying it was only a matter of time and they'd been through this with other apartments. At least now I know who used up all my laundry detergent when I had it down there. There's a bit of a silver lining in that the lease was up for renewal May 31st, but we haven't signed it yet. So we have the chance to move out, because for all we know those punks are going to try to get some retaliation for getting caught. The landlord is hemming and hawing about the difficulties of evicting them, which is bullshit, so it's time to move. It's not like he's had anybody clear out the weeds around here, which makes Alex very nervous, since both downstairs neighbors are smokers and he's been in an apartment where smokers caused a fire.

So if any of you Moscovites are familiar with affordable two bedroom apartments with storage and on-site washers/dryers who allow pets (well behaved, quiet, neutered, indoors only cat and my ratties), let me know. If you know who NOT to go with (for instance, from Paul I know that Welcome Home are bitches & everything you agree upon MUST be gotten in writing), also let me know.

I'm going to be busy as all hell moving for the next week, and that means I've pushed back visiting my folks, which I'm none too pleased about.

roommates, teh suck
