So then I discovered Okkervil River remade one of their songs that's a lyrical favorite of mine in Black Sheep Boy Appendix, with an instrumental bridge that sounds like civil war soldiers of love marching off to die instead of Will Sheff wailing like a dog set on fire. While certain songs of Okkervil River can at times suggest emo, the canon of Okkervil River is not emo. Unless being emo includes abusing your girlfriend by choking her and murdering high school girls and ending up in prison. Since last time I checked emos were pussies, this just doesn't work.

I'm pretty sure Okkervil River's Will Sheff could beat up Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst. Conor Oberst is cuter, but I'd still rather make out with Will Sheff.
