2013 is coming to a close, it's been an amazing year for me. I realize that a lot of my life is also the story of other people, and those are not my stories to tell - so I don't have a lot to say except I'm amazed at where my life is at, the people in it, and where it's going

My wife and I just got back from Seaworld, and she is wondering if you know the answer to a question that she couldn't get answered there: What do penguins feel like? What's their heft like, how dense are they? If you poke them, are they squishy, or firm?

...I don't know why we have so many of these penguin questions, but we do.

Penguins are super heavy/hefty - they are like solid muscle/weight (weird for a bird but makes sense!) The layer of feathers is 'squishy' but under that they are quite a solid bulk. :) If you get the chance, a lot of aquariums offer penguin encounters where you can meet them and get the chance to touch/stroke one - they are very neat birds!

But seriously, this is a thing? Week long animal training at the Shedd, with marine mammals?!

I should put that in my bucket list.

As it is, I'm going to be doing Backstage Adventures helping keepers care for African Painted Dogs and Gorillas this year.

They do have encounter/behind the scenes type of programs as well - highly recommended :)

Thats all just so freaking cool. SO. FREAKING. COOL! I'm glad we got a chance to hang out this year. Was bloody brilliant and I can't wait to see you again! *hugs*

So magical! I love belugas so much! I thought it was great when I was a kid, most people didn't even know what one was- so I did a lot of informing people of these awesome whales :)
