No apology necessary, at all; well-meant advice is always welcome. And I was having an exceptionally whinge-a-matronic day, so thank you for putting up with me! (Although I am going to adopt thingowassit into my standard vocabulary. Word of Win!)
I am, partly on the strength of what you recommend, thinking about booking a massage therapist for a couple of sessions, which isn't quite as big a step (well, it doesn't seem that way) as making a Real Physio appointment but might help to clear up stress-related tension and pain caused by unergonomic posture and that sort of thing. If that doesn't fix things then yes, perhaps physio will be the way to go... we shall see. Thank you for the advice!
Massage is better, anyway! In general, I find massage therapists/myotherapists (this may be an Australia-specific term) to be less oriented to an acute-injury, "do these exercises and you'll be fixed" model, which is much more helpful. Also, less pain during sessions and less judgmental. MASSAGE!!!!
