... Indonesia! (What did I say about how most of my posts begin, again?)

The weather here is incredible. Right now we're in the midst of an enormous thunderstorm, with lightning flashing all around. I stepped out of the climate-controlled conference room earlier and it was absolutely bucketing with rain, the kind of tropical torrential downpour ( Read more... )

Indonesia sounds lovely and I'm glad you're having fun. :) What did you see when you were diving?

I tried to reply to this and slow Indonesian internet connection seems to have eaten it :( But, I did see loads of great stuff! The night dive was the best, I think (we did five in total over two days) -- saw a sting ray before we even got in the water, a cuttlefish came and played with our torch beams as we were preparing to descend, and then once we got down there (went to about 15m and then swam back at 10m) we saw shoals of cardinal fish just hanging out, sea urchins and brittle stars being much more active than during the day, hermit crabs wandering about, a pufferfish asleep in coral and a clownfish asleep in its anemone (awww!), two moray eels, one out hunting and one hiding in its hole, and (the highlight for me) a baby lionfish! I wish I'd taken my camera, but I didn't think the lighting, the aquatic life and my dive skills were going to be up to taking any good photos -- I was wrong on that count! It was a fabulous dive anyway, though :)

Oh wow, that's fantastic. I love sting rays and cuttlefish, and the clownfish is adorable. I'm glad you saw so many cool things. :)

Sounds like you live a marvellously exciting life - and Indonesia sounds wonderful!

We got your postcard from Croatia in the mail today - thank you :)

I was only thinking of you on Monday night, as my Rach Vespers score has writing all over it that is awfully similar to yours. I spent a while trying to work out why it looked so familiar, and then the next while analysing it more deeply (while singing. La di da!). Did you ever write out the full translation on a Rach Vespers score?

When are you next back in Australia for a visit? We miss you!

I am here!! Was hoping to see you at Kim's birthday on the weekend... I managed to surprise quite a few others though :) We must organise a time to catch up -- I am here for a week, leaving next Monday. Are you free for lunch maybe on Thursday or Friday?

I heard through bar_barra's post that you were here! I wish I'd made more of an effort to get to Kim's party - we were pretty run down and had our kinder working bee on early on Sunday. Apart from the whole babysitting issue too - it's pretty sparse at the moment.

But yes, I can do Thursday! Where shall we meet, what shall we do? Della finishes kinder at 11:45 and they have a ballet lesson at 4:00, but between that is free (OK, give me time to get them ready for ballet, make it 3:30pm)...

Oh good, it would be lovely to see the kids too! Will it make things easier if I come to you? I can bring lunch too :) what would you like? Or I'm happy to go out if you prefer, just let me know. Can't wait to see you!

Hmm, swimming in a thunderstorm sounds pretty divine to me, actually, but probably a safety issue unless is it a pool or something...
