Why is it too much to ask that my palm, ical and gcal all play together nicely? WHY?

I can't be the only person on the planet that wants a reasonable solution to this.

technology, technical difficulties, mac

Naturally every corporation wants to lock you into its own proprietary income stream! I last encountered this when the key cylinder in my Oldsmobile wore out. It wasn't a cheap replacement. :(

I haven't tried to sync iCal and gCal, but iCal should work with your palm through "the missing sync."

I do have palm and ical working pretty well (minus the known issue with recurring events), and I've found a number of syncing options for ical and gcal, but they're all either really expensive, extremely complex to install (futzing about in the terminal, which I don't even begin to understand) or have caused ical to crash randomly.

Boy howdy I feel you pain here. I've been avoiding iCal for years because of its limited cooperation with my Palm. But now that I have my heart set on eventually owning an iPhone, I figured I'd better learn to live with iCal. I subscribe to my gCal with iCal and then just try like hell to remember to refresh it before I synching with my Palm. Not ideal...but tolerable.
