Ring on her finger?

After another reconnaissance mission, it may be the case that she is engaged/married.

Le sigh. :\

Oh well.

And sometimes (you know, 90% of the time in daily life that isn't at a bar) they wear them because they are engaged/married.

I don't want to dash Fox's hopes (and I hope he check HAND and FINGER for Left and Ring) but for normal working environment it is much more likely that she's actually taken. The ring to fend off weirdos is when out dancing/clubbing/etc. other Meat Market activity.

And yes, the assumption that he should push on in the face of a clear society signal of NOT AVAILABLE kinda pisses me off.

HINT: even if if she IS just wearing that ring to fend off "the weirdos", any attempts to hit on her while she's wearing it does make the would-be Romeo...surprise... "a weirdo." A girl who wears a wedding ring is taken. Period. Most likely by another man. Possibly in a small number of cases, with the idea of her independence. Either way, she's banking on the idea that it's a signal any decent guy would respect. And she's really OK with that. Assuming brashly that 1) she's not REALLY serious about wearing it and 2) you're the exception to whatever type of guy she's trying to avoid mostly sets you up as egocentric, socially clueless, and tiresome.

That said, not every ring a woman wears on her left hand IS a wedding ring; from the evidence presented, I'd recommend Fox get a closer look at it. If it's still ambiguous he can ask, or have a female friend compliment it to see what the wearer says.
