So. I could explain this, and apologize for various errors that I'm sure are here. But if I don't post it then I'll never post it, and this way at least it's not lingering in Word and looking sad.
Also, this is
glossing's fault.
So.
L'Engle (Chronos)/Buffy crossover. With het!
(
Wherein Mr. Theo owns a music store, Emily has a CD out, and Oz is marginally straight. 1,128 words. )

he was the only person at the store wearing the official store shirt
*pets Mr. Theo very gently*
It took Oz three weeks to discover Emily was blind; he had assumed she was just really, really lazy, and good at what she did.
*love*
"I wasn't born like this," she said.
*covets this sentence like whoa*
I'm serious.
"I'm not lying. It's not really my style."
*Damn*, but your dialogue's too good for words.
"And if you decide that you're straight this week, you're probably going to ask me to dinner."
Crossover OTP! Emily can have girls, too, right?

I keep feeling like my dialogue's not quite right, but then when it feels closer to what I think of with canon I have to remember that Emily's not, you know, twelve, and Oz isn't Sunnydaley, so I'm hoping overall it balances out.
And. God, I hope Emily can have girls, because I have had a crush on her for FAR too long for her to be straight. In my heart, if it weren't for Mr. Theo, who they both adore and respect, Oz and Emily would both be fucking anyone that moved (and was suitably intelligent and funny and nice and pretty and good enough for them).
I think they may be my brand new crossover OTP. Not so much for anything I've WRITTEN, as for things that just make me think and smile.
*pets them both*

I think Oz is an oddly L'Engle-esque character. Mostly, I'm sure, because he loves the music.

Your dialogue is so crisp and clean and, from what I know, true to the characters. Brilliant.
"Unless you're a Slayer," Oz said without thinking.
"I- what?" Emily looked frightened, all of a sudden. "I don't- I- Oz?"
And he realized what it must sound like, to a girl who was blinded and almost killed when she was younger.
Just ... oh. Oh. Wonderful.
Thank you.

I love this story so much. Just, with the dialogue, and the quiet, self contained atmosphered that suits them both right down to the ground. And the patented L'Engle intersection of mentioning Katherine Forrester!
*sudenly wants to write Rain/Wasp fic*
very much love.
