Sometimes, you're in the mood for a very specific type of book. Not, like, "I'm in the mood for romance" or "I want explosions," but "I want a book that makes me feel exactly the way this book did."

(This has happened most frequently with me, recently, with On the Jellicoe Road. I know, I know, I've been too subtle about it, but sometimes ( Read more... )

I went on a huge YA lit binge recently right before diving into all of the figure skating books in the world (of course, i read some YA figure skating books which combines the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS). ANYWAYS. I finally, finally read Jellicoe Road and now I am obsessed and have to read it fifty million more times.

The end, a story by Kate.

Ih when I know I'm in the mood for a very specific type of book only I can't quite put my finger on which type. Nothing else is really satisfying when you feel like that!

THAT IS THE WORST FEELING.

And even good books feel like crappy books because they aren't what you're craving! DDDDD:

I Hadn't Meant To Tell You This is such a good book. We carry it at Dinosaur Hill, in our small (it's 3 shelves!) book section.

This happens to me all the time. The worst thing is when you think a book (or fic, or movie, or whatever) might just be that thing that you want, and part way through you discover that even though in a different mood you would like it, it's just not the thing you want. :( And then you are halfway through a perfectly good book that you don't feel like reading and yet you can't be sure that any of your other books in the queue are the thing you want, either. :( :( :(

At least right now you know exactly what you want? Frustrating in a different way (most recent books to make me just want more -- Hunger Games and Blackout by Connie Willis), but at least a little less confusing?
