WIP Amnesty

I'm going through my old folders and purging my works in progress. And by purge, I do mean delete. Some of these I haven't even opened in five years, and there comes a time when you have to admit that there's nothing even remotely useable in some of these unfinished stories ( Read more... )

I like many of these! Especially the Luke/Lorelai and the House fic. I am amused to see that we both apparently have affection for House and Cuddy, one of those things I never managed to know.

In other news, Bones fic by someone who can write! Almost enough to make me wish I were up on Doctor Who. I just ate up the entire first season of Bones in about 2 days, and I am in love with the whole thing.

Thank you! I just realized I'd forgotten this amusing bit for the Luke/Lorelai one, so I added it above:

There was supposed to be a scene later where Lorelai freaks out about everyone leaving, and Luke grabs her and says, "I'm here. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."

And Lorelai buries her face in his shoulder and says, "I know. You're like a really tall hobbit."

And I wish I could get a decent idea for Bones fic! They are v. fun to write, but the procedural nature of the show makes it hard for me to come up with great ideas. Casefiles are not my thing, really.

I assume you've already found fialka's Bones fic, and dsudis's? If not, you should check them out. Both have all their Bones stuff (admittedly not a whole lot, but what's there is great) tagged.

Hee. You can never go wrong with a good LOTR joke.

- OMG, I think I remember those Slayer-horse stories (I think the project was suggested during one of the summers when I didn't have internet access). Yours sounds totally cool; too bad you guys weren't able to go forward with it.

- Snape and Lily! And Petunia too... now you're making me all intrigued about what you could do with that character. I won't tell you anything about the last couple of books, but there are a few interesting tidbits that might inspire you further.

- "Hot Press" is a genius name for an Office fic, and I really wish you would use it at some point. :)

- Doctor Who/any other fandom is always brilliant. I especially like Bones and her anthropologizing. *g*

-Mine would have been totally cool! Yet another longer story that would have been Teh Awesome if only I'd had the discipline to finish it. I had it all plotted out and everything! (This is why I'll never have any status in fandom. *g*)

-If I ever did anything in HP fandom, I totally would have been a Petunia apologist. If for no other reason that the fact that I think she's probably one of the few characters who don't have legions of fangirl apologists! Have you read kyrafic's Home Is the Place Where? AWESOME Petunia and Harry fic.

-I know, right? It makes me hope that The Office will be better next season, so I can use it. But it would almost certainly have to be a Jim'n'Pam fic (or a Pam without Jim fic, I guess) so I'm not sure where I'd take that.

-There might be a couple more amnesty DW crossovers forthcoming. For some reason it's a show that really lends itself to crossovers. And I just really wanted to put the Doctor in a situation where he wasn't necessarily the expert! I imagine him going, "Is that what I sound like?" ( ... )

Some really cool stuff here. I think my favorite is the one with Petunia and Harry. Fascinating! *g*

And should I be hopeful, considering that your awesome Ten/Rose sexy!fic isn't here? Might that still be in progress?

I haven't given up on it entirely, but I'm really not certain of it's chances. And it's not really going to be that sexy if it ever gets finished; the ultimate goal is more of a headtrip. *g*

Oh, it's all good. That scene was just a gem, and I can't wait to see it in context.

Awesome. Your BSG snippet actually feels complete to me and is quite chilling. The undercurrents and hints you make about the future we know work really well.

And then, on the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm a sucker for the Luke and Lorelai first meeting scenario. There are so many of them that when you find a good one it makes it all the sweeter. Food, on the windows indeed.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I almost posted the BSG thing as a separate ficlet, but then I decided that the end really needed something else to make it "complete," and I didn't feel like messing with it. Might clean it up and stick it on my website at some point, though.

And thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the Luke and Lorelai one. The end of the show was IMO just right, but there's still so much to explore!

I found myself on your LJ after being refused the access to the Luke/Lorelai ficathon some nice girl recced me to. (Is that because I have to friend you or does it no longer exist? Anyway, I don't friend without warning. It seems kinda rude)

Soooo.

Then there was supposed to be a scene later where Lorelai freaks out about everyone leaving, and Luke grabs her and says, "I'm here. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."

And Lorelai buries her face in his shoulder and says, "I know. You're like a really tall hobbit."

That really had me laughing hard. XD Any particular reason you had for not finishing that fic? (I s'pose a very good joke is not enough for a story, but damn, it'd be more than nothing~)

Yeah, the link is still in seanachais recs, out there in the world wide web (in my Firefox tabs, too)

That's a good philosophy to have on WIPs though. I have started a lot of multi-chapters but haven't finished one, ever. I also don't like to read multi-chapters... Y'know, you find that really sweet fic, and then you get to the last chapter updated in 03, but there isn't the words The End at the end of it? Yeah? Well, that stinks.

You don't seem to write a lot though, seeing as there are only four entries in fiction. That normal?

The link is unlocked now!

And I hardly write fanfiction at all now, though I used to write quite a bit. The four entries under my "fiction" tag (I don't really tag; I'm not organized enough) are just the ones that haven't made it onto my website yet.
