as for kvell, yep, it's a Yiddish word. Separate from kvetch, which is just to bitch and moan like no one's business. I'm not as familiar with kvell, but I definitely have the sense that it has to do with being effusive. I think it's positive emotions, though.
and.... The Joys of Yiddish says it means to beam with immense pride. Or at least it meant that in 1968. ;)
