If you get a charlie card - the plastic kind, not the paper tickets - the T is only $1.70, instead of 2 bucks. You can pick them up at the North Station C-rail ticket booth, and they're free! just load them with $$ like a ticket. Doesn't do anything for the insane C-rail fare, but hey, at least it helps a bit.
