I honestly don't remember, but it was somewhere in Boston. Word to the wise, though: register as early as you possibly can so that you can get a test center that's T accessible; I wound up getting one of the last available Boston test centers, it wasn't T accessible, and I had to cajole my dad into picking me up from 'deis and taking me there and driving me back after the test. Your not having relatives in the area kind of makes that scenario difficult for you, I'd wager, so register like NOW if you can. Let me know if you need any help with anything else grad-school related. **Hug**

I do have family in the area -- where do you think I've been storing my extra stuff for the past three years? All else fails, I might be able to cajole a friend with a car, hey? But how do you figure out which centers are T-accessible?

Also, yes, you can take it as many times as you like, but you can't "pick and choose." Before taking the test, the computer asks you to select 5 schools that you'd like your score sent to. Once you've taken the test, you are given the option to see the results or not. If you elect to see your results, then that score gets sent to all the schools you specified; if not, you don't get to know your score and you must take it over again. Each time you elect to see your score, the places you apply to will see them, too.

But don't worry too much--you're smart and I'm sure you'll do fine.

if you go to their website (gre.org), they have a list of all the test centers, and you can see what slots on which days are still available. most testing centers will let you test any day of the week, but this time of year they tend to fill up quickly, so you should register ASAP. you might remember that i had to take it in WORCESTER the monday morning after we returned from montreal, because there were no other november test slots left.

yes, you can look at the reading passages while answering the questions. on gre.org, they have a program you can download that is the same as the one they use at the test centers, and it comes with two full tests. it's definitely worth using, because then you can practice with something that's like what you'll actually be doing, rather than on paper, which is pretty different.
