Backyard BBQ Party!

Wherever your character was or whatever they were doing - suddenly they're not. They could have fallen asleep or walked through a doorway or just turned around too quickly, but whatever the case? Now they're somewhere else - in the rather large backyard of an unfamiliar house, in fact. And though who knows where this might be, it's a beautiful summer day out - hot but not too hot, with a scattering of clouds in a bright blue sky.

The yard is quite spacious, containing a large grassy area with a gazebo to one side, a swimming pool with hot tub, and a large cement-and-brick patio. The whole thing is surrounded by a tall wooden fence, but oddly enough, no matter how far someone might walk to approach said fence it never seems to get any closer. And though what seem to be other houses are visible on the sides and to the back, they're somehow difficult to make out, as though seen through a heat haze.

The white-painted gazebo sits in the midst of a close-cropped lush green lawn. Around the edges is a bed of brightly colored flowers, and under its shade is a scattering of comfortably padded lounge chairs. And for some reason, there's a leash tied around one of the support poles, the end trailing off into the flower bed.

The pool is a standard-looking backyard pool, with a diving board and slide on the deep end . There are a couple of deck chairs beside it, as well as a storage bin holding life jackets, arm floaties, and inflatable rings shaped like various animals. In the center of the hot tub is a large glitter-spewing cod statue, though most of the glitter tends to disappear once it hits the surface of the water.

The patio is the focal point of the yard, though, if only for the barbecue grill in the center. Oddly enough, whenever someone opens the lid of the grill there will always be hot dogs, polish dogs, or hamburgers ready and perfectly cooked. Not too far away is a large table with buns and fixings for the meat, as well as various picnic foods, such as chips, salads, platters of fruits and vegetables, and corn on the cob (barbecued in the husk), and treats like cookies and cupcakes. On either end of the table is an ice-filled cooler - one (with "ALL" written on the lid) has various sodas and bottled juices, while the other (with "GROWNUPS" on the lid) has various alcoholic beverages. And oddly enough, anyone who isn't over 21 years old can't open the "grownups" cooler. There are also picnic tables and chairs scattered about the rest of the patio, ready to be used.

On the edge of the patio is a small table by itself bearing two identical-looking bowls of lemonade, with ice and lemon slices floating in each. One has a card in front of it that says "YES" and the other a card that says "NO," and as usual the "YES" bowl smells of alcohol. (If your character drinks from said bowl, contact tiassa or mudo never works on aim, or email tiassa at gmail.)

The house to which this yard belongs is accessible by a set of french doors from the patio. Inside is a rather well-appointed house, tastefully decorated and comfortably air-conditioned, but none of the cupboards or drawers will open and the furniture can't be moved out of place, and there seems to be a complete lack of a front door. The house has a kitchen with large dining room, a living room with comfortable sofas, a family room with a pool table, two bedrooms and a bathroom. On top of the fridge in the kitchen is a cardboard box full of sparklers, a carton of cigarettes, and a box of matches, along with a large placard that says "KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN."

The first rule of the party: have fun. The second rule of the party: don't be lame. All characters welcome, all powers/abilities are go, if the others you're threading with are okay with it. If you're in a specific part of the yard/house please put that in the subject line of your thread. And characters can show up wearing whatever you want; if they need a change of clothes (or a swimsuit) there might just be some magically available in one of the bedrooms.
