Growing up, we had been told by our parents that the photographer had ruined the photos to there wedding and that there was nothing left. However, imagine our surprise to find these photos of them walking out of the church that my dad had kept. We found them after he had passed away. These were taken in December 1954.

I also LOVE that last one of your mother with the photographer stamp on it.

They're beautiful!
She doesn't appear visibly pregnant or anything so I can't think of a reason to hide them.
Thank you for sharing!

I suspect my mother missed placed them when we moved into our home in the early 60's. She died in a car accident in the late 70's. My father may have found them when we moved out in the 80's. Because he never recovered from her death (never was involved with anyone serious, no other marriages, and the mention of my mom would sometimes highly upset him.) I can only imagine that he highly coveted these pictures and didn't want to share them with us. I know there were several other things of hers that he kept that we didn't know about until after his death.

My first thought was 'if she were pregnant and showing, I can see hiding them IF it bothered them'.
But since she doesn't look pregnant...I presumed she wasn't and figured 'okay there's gotta be a vastly different reason then...' which is what you shared. Thank you for sharing these, they're beautiful photos.
And in my work with elderly patients, after they pass on...a number of my patient's families often told of situations similar to yours. Maybe not the same as treasured away wedding photos but other keepsakes that were too painful to share openly but too precious to throw away.
Again, thank you for sharing them!
