Why such a difference between roll and cassette films? Isn't it just like a roll inside the cassette anyway?
Or is the film itself different?
I would think it would be easier to find old 35mm films..

Obviously backing paper+spool is playing its role as chemical/physical shield isolating film from external forces.
This is the only difference between two I can think of.
