[ooc: backdated to May 2, Monday Evening!]

[Eugene is trying to contact a certain boss of his but the call is accidentally filtered to Rapunzel instead. His voice sounds strained against the speaker, and his speech is punctuated by badly-stifled gasps:]

Hey... Got myself in... a bit of a jam here... [his attempted chuckle turns into a hacking ( Read more... )

[Rapunzel's been having a distressingly strange week. She's in the cottage she shares with Aurora (not that Aurora even remembers Rapunzel's not just visiting when she gets the message, and she immediately jumps to her feet, holding the Dreamberry close to her face]

Eugene-- Eugene???

[she hasn't heard from him all this time, either; and needless to say, this isn't the most reassuring of calls. Maybe he hasn't become her new dream yet, but she does care enough about him for this to scare her.]

Eugene, hold on, all right? I'm going to find you! Just-- I know, Pascal, I know--

[she gathers up her hair, racing for the door. She remembers passing some sort of police sign when in Somni a few days earlier; whatever it is, she's pretty sure she can still find it.

With a bit of Pascal's help, she does so eventually; like Flynn said, once she sees blood it's not hard to track him down. suppressing the urge to be sick, she runs and drops to her knees next to him, not minding the state of her own dress as she gathers her hair]Oh-- no no no ( ... )

[Not making any sense, Blondie, but hey he can roll with that]

If you don't want me to know how we met, that's fine with me. I might be better off that way in any case.

[he starts out with a chuckle but falters when he notices her bloodstained dress] Oh cr-- Did I do that?

[she looks down at her dress, noticing its state for the first time]

Oh-- it's all right. It's only fabric. Your life is more important than the state of my dress.

...you really mean that, don't you?

Why wouldn't I mean that, Eugene? It's just a dress. I can make another one. A life... That can't be replaced.

That's true but... [he cannot comprehend how one can possess such a generous spirit towards a complete stranger.

Unless they weren't complete strangers. He does feel as though he might know her from somewhere but... where?]

[sakdjlajd this is frustrating and Eugene just does not deal with frustrating. Especially if there isn't any alcohol around to dull the inevitable headache. Interpersonal empathy was never his strong point, self-sufficiency being something that he developed early on in childhood.

It's back to his default mode then: grinning and foolishness]

...I think you should probably get changed. It sort of looks like you started a bloodbath in those clothes.

[she looks down at herself and blushes]

You don't look a whole lot better, you know.

[she swallows. she's never seen this much blood before, though it's probably a lot easier for her to handle knowing she was able to fix the wound that was causing it, prevent fatalities]

Really? But I think I look quite fetching in blood.

[he does a quick turn-around, feeling oh-so model-esque, afterwhich he notices her discomfort. Oh right. She probably isn't used to seeing all this blood. (to be honest, he isn't too keen on it either) What to do... Well, he has an idea, but he isn't too sure how she will respond to it.

Ah well. Caution to the wind:]

You know... My place isn't too far from here. If you want a change of clothes, I could probably loan you some.

[....this is the face Pascal is giving you, Flynn: B| ]

Mm... why would you have dresses, though?

[going back to his place maaay not have quite the same connotation for this raised-in-a-tower medieval girl as it would for a proper girl in the '20s~]

I have friends over occasionally. Sometimes they leave their stuff and forget about 'em. [or more like they never come back. Yeah. Definitely skirting over that topic.

Frowning now:]

...you have a green thing on your shoulder and it's giving me this really nasty look.

They leave their clothes? [she doesn't quite get it, but okay, moving on]

Pascal's not a green thing, Eugene, he's a chameleon.

Looks more like a frog to me.

[memory-loss or no, Pascal will always be The Frog to him. ♥]

If nothing fits, I could always lend you a shirt, right? C'mon, before someone from the precinct sees us.

[and he stalks off around the back. Coming, Blondie?]

[sure, sure, but Pascal can still take offence to it 8| ]

Uhm...

[she looks around her for a moment, a bit nervous, before exchanging a nervous glance with Pascal. This can't hurt, right? Maybe he's a little different, but he's still the same person.

Right, running after him now.]

I'm coming!

[Eugene was ambushed on his way home from the usual evening drinking binge so his place is actually just a few blocks away. It is an ominous-looking apartment complex that fits right in with the rest of the town. He knows he can probably do better, what with the pay he gets from both his legal and illegal enterprises, but for two things: One, after spending his whole life on the streets, this type of seedy, shady, slang-filled environment has become something of a comfort to him. And two, he has this bad habit of bringing his paychecks directly to Mama Mille's.

After a nod to the man at the counter (and a small shake of the head to say, No, Phil, this isn't the usual so wipe that look off your face), he leads Rapunzel up the stairs and eventually they arrive at Eugene's room.]

It isn't much but I think you already knew that. [he shrugs and opens the door, inviting her to step in first] Make yourself at home.

[the outside is a little shady, and she stays close to him as he leads her down the street, a little nervous. the inside though is no worse than the Snuggly Duckling, at least, so she feels a bit more comfortable as she accepts his invitation and steps in]

Thanks for this, Eugene. [still looking after her even when he's not himself. this doesn't help with her crush.] Are you sure it's all right?
