By the way, do you know any LJ community for people learning English? I can't find any and I would need some help with an expression :/

I have a text to translate that says "Silk dyers imagined themselves as Wall Street tycoons and millinery girls as fan dancers".
I can't understand what a "tycoon" is and I don't know if a "millinery girl" is a girl who makes hats or wears hats :/ If you have any opinion, i Would be very grateful!

i can try! tycoon - somebody who makes a lot of money, someone who oens a bunch of places, etc haha sorry thats my bad example
wall street tycoons- wall street winners
i dont know what millinery girls are. i've never heard that before.
