A while ago, I mentioned some of the strengths manga had over traditional comics: Price point, stories vs. soap opera, chewy sizes that don't take 4 minutes to read, etc. Its somewhere in the archives; I'm not looking for it again (

Sad that they cost so much. Manga only runs around 390 yen here, which comes out to just over $3.

Is that for the magazine or for the tankoban?

The magazines (like Jump, etc.) run around 300 - 350 yen per week. They've all got one "episode" of multiple manga in them.
The compilations all run around 390 yen apiece, and generally contain several month's worth of episodes. Usually 10-14ish.
