I have a friend here who is doing her thesis (and I think ultimately her PhD as well) looking at the math from the various ship construction methods proposed in this and other manuscripts and figuring out how they could be, and were used. She's brilliant, and a sweetheart as well.

Basically she worked out all the math from the different proposed systems, and then used it to look at the dimensions we have from various shipwrecks (and some surviving vessels) to see how they were actually being built....
