When I develop a complex argument on a subject near and dear to my heart over at Glossographia, even one I think is really intellectually significant, virtually nobody reads it. I think it goes back to "the mass public doesn't want to think about what they read most of the time." The people that do read things that require thought, from what I've seen, are a small--but dedicated--group.
