Just a girl from a small island.

Unpacking had been pretty straightforward but then Klara was always meticulous and organised in the way she put things into her suitcases so it was a fairly simply task in the end. The room was more than adequate, the size, location and decoration more than she could have asked for really. She preferred having a room to herself, she wasn't as young ( Read more... )

Jean, too, had trouble with sleeping, although probably for very different reasons. Although only around nine o'clock, Jean could already tell that tonight was going to be a very long, unpleasant evening of nightmares and voices screaming inside her head where she couldn't drown them out. Instead, she decided to drown them out with something else all together- a distraction.

Swimming had always been among her favorite activities. The weightlessness and sheer floating she felt seemed to calm her, soothe her ever moving thoughts. So she donned her suit and pulled on a pair of shorts and a camisole on over it before picking her way slowly through the house and onto the patio. Hair pulled back into a messy bun atop her head and a towel slung over her shoulder, she was ready to sink into the cool respite of calm that the pool always brought.

Except there was somebody already there.

Jean walked up beside the woman and smiled down at her, motioning to the spot beside her. "May I?"

Klara's eyes flew open and she gasped in surprise having zoned out a little for a moment there. The calm surroundings were doing her the world of good, especially seeing as she knew so little about the mutant race. She had never met anyone else with abilities so coming here had been a huge step for her. Turning to look at the woman stood there she offered a soft smile, nodding her head. "Of course, please feel free."

It was beautifully peaceful out here, the gentle ripple of water and the sounds of the other occupants inside the house providing just enough background noise. Klara, waiting for the woman to settle, held out her hand.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Klara Prast."

Jean waited politely until she got the okay to sit down before she actually did so. She gave the other woman some space and dipped her feet into the water of the pool. She couldn't help but gasp. "Ah! Cold..." she added with a sheepish grin. Finally, Jean settled herself comfortably, legs in the water and leaning back on her arms as she watched the horizon darken and turn to the purples and blues of nighttime.

Jean grasped the other woman's hand and gave it a firm shake. "Jean Grey," she replied more calmly than she felt just then. It wasn't the other woman in particular that had her nervous, it was the mass congregation of bodies being so near in the house. "Pleasure." There was a small pause as she tried to think of something, anything to say. "So, where're you from?"

Klara's gaze flitted back to the garden for a moment during the slight pause, watching the shadows flicker in the last moments of the light, before returning to meet Jean's. "I'm from England actually. This is my first time in America as well so it's all a little," She waved a hand about trying to find the right word. "Overwhelming. But in a good way though."

She had worried, been concerned that she wouldn't fit in. Especially seeing as she had left everyone behind to move here. Klara could sense that Jean was tense, but over what she couldn't tell and nor would she pry. It wasn't proper to go nosing about in other peoples business anyway. "What about you Jean? Where are you from?"
