Insomniac? What Gave You That Idea? *OTA*

Martini wasn't sleeping, despite the fact it was now a quarter past two in the morning. It was a natural part of his mutation, something that just wouldn't allow him to sleep like everyone else. So, instead, he found himself attempting to stay quiet as the rest of  the house peacefully slumbered. It wasn't working all that well. He just couldn't ( Read more... )

Seemed Martini wasn't the only one that needed fresh air. Though Warren had slipped out of his and Bobby's room to clear his head. Just about everyone knew about his wings so he didn't bother hiding them.

Stepping out to the patio he shook his head. "Martini, that song so doesn't fit you. Maybe more Three Days Grace." He sat down peeking at the book. "Don't you have that one memorized already?"

"I have stood here before inside the pouring rain. With the world turning circles running 'round my brain. I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign. But it's my destiny to be the king of pain." He really wasn't as bad a singer as he claimed to be. At least, not when he thought anyone was up and actually listening to him. He just didn't have the confidence to pull it off with an audience before hin, Mark was really getting into the song when Warren's voice cut through the night air.

He gave a startled yelp and was halfway out of his chair before he realized who it was. "I happen to prefer this song. It's more intelligent. 'Sides, Three Days Grace isn't as much fun to sing along to." He shot Warren a half-hearted glare and huffed indignantly. "Ha. Funny. No I don't, and it wouldn't hurt you none to crack open a book once in a while neither, Feathers."

Warren laughed a little when Mark jumped. "I'm more into picture books myself. Easier on the eyes." He lies, but only Bobby would know there's a shelf of science fiction in his room, most of the covers worn, he has the hard backs back at the penthouse.

"Besides, I read when I have to."

Martini laughed and lightly slugged Warren in the shoulder. "I don't believe that for a millisecond. You're smarter than you let on."

He folded down the corner of one page and set the book down beside the chair, turning the music down. "What're you doing up so late anyway? It's bedtime for Bonzo."

late penelope is late, hope you don't mind. lost_lil_charm May 19 2010, 21:00:09 UTC
Penelope had tossed and turned for the last few hours. She needed sleep; wanted to sleep. But the visions wouldn't let her. Every time she'd tried to close her eyes tonight; something had flashed before them. She'd had enough of the nightmarish images. Her head was pounding. Finally she tossed the blankets aside and decided to get out of there.

For once she didn't even bother with her camera. Grabbing a hooded sweat-shirt. One of the two she owned. She pulled it over her tank-top and pajama bottoms. Feet slipped into sandals, she creeps down the stairs and out the door. She heard the music by the pool; before she saw anyone. Clearing her throat a little; not wanting to startle whoever it was. She rocked back on her heels. "Private gig, or can anyone listen?"

Naw, not at all! :) time_schizo May 20 2010, 05:07:47 UTC
Martini liked The Police, not just for their sound, but the fact their lyrics were a bit deeper than the average pop band's. He was in the middle of the song, singing along. "There's a king on his throne, with his eyes torn out. There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt. There's a rich man sleeping on a golden bed. There's a skeleton, choking on a crust of bread."

Only when he was in the middle of the air guitar solo did he realize anyone else was outside with him. Pausing, with his arms failing about like a dork, he looked highly embarrassed. "Uh...." He tried to regain some sense of how to talk. "How long have you been standing there?"

Penelope couldn't help but giggle. Especially when she saw it was Martini. The air guitar solo helped the amusement. Covering her mouth to stifle it, bright blue eyes light with amusement. A smile pressed to her hand to stop another eruption of giggles before she can even answer him.

"Oh just long enough to find out the Knight who came to my rescue plays a mean air guitar. I have to say, I find mine lacking. I'll need to practice more." she wandered closer with a small laugh. She wished she'd had her camera. She enjoyed catching the happier moments to look back on after all.

As the song ended, he reached over and turned the radio down. His embarrassment at being caught rocking out was swiftly fading, replaced by his more usual easy going nature.

Martini shifted over so that Penelope could sit down beside him on the chair, and motioned for her to do so. "Well, this knight is wondering what you're doing up and out of bed at this hour. It's almost three in the morning."
