I always thought Transformers is all aout giant robots fighting multiplied by twenty.So why would I go in expecting something different? =D

though afterwards the plot holes started to irritate.

Not quite. More a matter of things I could see then, but they were usually overwhelmed at the time by giant robots, explosions, and flash cuts.
