Why, yes, I am a 12-year-old boy.

I was spending my day being disgusted with the BBC, for having the nerve to threaten to sue fans who knit cuddly versions of Doctor Who monsters.  But then I see this headline on the BBC World News website:

I am a girl and yet I still giggled for about 10 minutes at it. I keep picturing one of those local news teasers that stations run during commercial breaks: "Great tits aren't just for putting your face against and going BMBMBMBMBMMMMM any more - they may also help you survive the coming global collapse! Details at 11!"

Clearly I am in a mental state where I should just pack it in, go home and start drinking. ;0)

I wish I was there to drink with you... cuz I'm right there with you on that news tease thing! LOLOLOLOLOL

*falls off couch laughing*

You mean you haven't started drinking yet? =p

That should be a drinking game. Every time you come across a news teaser or headline or whatnot that could be (mis)construed as dirty, you take a shot. Then, as you get progressively more drunk, more things start sounding dirty, and you drink exponentially more. ^_^

Oh they are! If you can recover enough from the headline to scroll down and look at them in their nest... ;0)

I was trying to think...are there American terms that don't mean something bad here, but freak out British people? I can think of a lot of terms they use - like "fag" for cigarette - that can be quite offensive over here. But I can't immediately think of any American slang terms that have the same shocking effect on them. Though that could be because as an American, I wouldn't find them weird.

It's not just the Americans. I'm a Brit and I laughed my ass off about that. I actually said to my brother "Hey look, someone finally found a use for my chest!"

I AM SO GLAD IT IS NOT JUST ME!!!!

Seriously...maybe the editor was just so immersed in environmental stories it didn't occur to him...and you can't do anything about the bird being called a "great tit"...but, you know, I would have made the guy title it "Great tits change nesting patterns" or something like that.

And of course, with the mention of the Netherlands in the article, I'm now hearing that scene from The Office where they see that website about how "Dutch girls must be punished for having big chests":

"You shouldn't punish someone for having big breasts -"
"If anything, you should reward them!"

Oh it;'s really not just you. And I will bet you a fiver that the editor knew EXACTLY what he was doing. The BBC is wonderful at doing things like this.
