Hoo boy. Okay, so I was walking home today, thinking about fanfic (because given any length of time during which I have no set task, that tends to be my default), and also thinking about Labyrinth (because David Bowie, seriously), and the two ended up sort of... fusing together.

The only way I would ever write this would have to be in notfic form, because a formal story would be huge, but the basic plot would go something like this:

Patrick and Ryan are half/step-brothers! Ryan likes to hang out in the park playing dress-up and pretending that he is a courageous heroine who quite bravely goes up against the Goblin King, while Patrick hangs out in the record store pretending to keep an eye on him. They are often late, which does not make their parents very happy, and they often scold Patrick (but not Ryan, because he is only 12. Yes, it's a wee!Ryan! Patrick, meanwhile, is about 16 or 17). One night, when Patrick has to babysit Ryan, who is eagerly telling him about the Goblin King Pete, Patrick kind of accidentally gets him sent into the keeping of the Goblin King. Whoopsie!

Well, belatedly realising that hey, he kind of needs Ryan back, he demands that he be allowed to find him. Wherein Pete shows up and whisks him away, yadda yadda yadda. Pete really just wants to hook up with Patrick, since he got interested in the family, what with Ryan saying his name all the time, and noticed that hey! Patrick's kind of awesome! But of course, being Pete, he can't just say that (although to be fair, Patrick would probably just roll his eyes or punch him in the face or something). So instead, he makes Patrick go through the Labyrinth. If he can get to the castle on time, he'll get Ryan and go home. If not, well... He might never see his brother again.

This is all just Pete's devious plan to make Patrick fall in love with him, though! Really! It is a very good plan! Well, no, okay, but shh, don't tell Pete.

Anyway, Patrick runs into a motley cast of characters when he journeys through the maze, among them Joe (who may or may not be working for Pete), Andy (who is a pacifist except when provoked), William (who is pretty), and Bob (who is large).

Meanwhile, back at the castle! Ryan is getting bored, because being the heroine is cool. Being the captive? Yeah, not so much, especially when your captor is freakily obsessed with your brother and not with your wiles. That's about the point when Mikey, Pete's elven ex, decides that he wants to screw with things and breaks Ryan out. Cue Ryan's crazy escapades through the Labyrinth, in which he very narrowly misses Patrick on numerous occasions (of course). He also meets Spencer, Brendon, and Brent, although Brent has to leave for some reason and gets replaced by Jon, who needs a break from Siska, Butcher, Mike, and Chislett, who are all looking for William, who is with Patrick because he kinda sorta got lost.

Also meanwhile! On their quest, Siska, Butcher, Mike and Chislett fall in with a rowdy group of folks called the Cobras. Nobody's quite sure what they're doing, but they're always willing to share their booze. Gabe and William may or may not be communicating psychically; I'm not sure yet.

Also also meanwhile! Mikey, finished wreaking havoc at the castle (the Cabbabies and Metro Station, etc., are by this point trying to find ways to avoid telling Pete that his captive is gone) has to go find his brother Gerard, which of course involves teaming up with Frank and Ray. They also steal Bob from Patrick along the way (after having found Gerard).

So basically it is shenanigans all around! Of course, the main stories are Patrick and Ryan, but the others wind their way in and out. Which is why I would never, ever be able to write this for real. For fake, though, maybe. *ponders*
