Duo hated feeling gimpy. He was pretty sure he used to recover more quickly than this, and the gimpness was starting to wear on his nerves. So was the silence.

Duo had never done well with silence.

He wandered up to the house, only slightly favoring the leg that had gotten it in the knee, wiping oil from his face with a rag that basically just spread the oil around.

Moist watched him for a while as he approached, actively biting down the instinct to carry Duo bodily back to the house.

He was heavy, anyway. And now that he was less concussed he tended to put up a fight.

"Thought you were sleeping in today?" he called, taking extreme, distracted care to set tea aside.

"I did," Duo said, shrugging a little.

"I mean, comparatively speaking? I totally did." He absently tugged on his braid as he started up the stairs, then sat on them.

"I've only been up for like fifteen minutes. I just wanted to... I just had to check the yard."

The corner of Moist's mouth twitched up and he pushed himself back in the chair, dropping his hand to ruff up the back of Arnold's neck.

"He's still there," Moist said, a knowing pitch to his voice. Deathsycthe. Still there, looming.

"Nothing fell apart without you." He laughed very quietly. "No matter how hard I tried..."
