Overheating definitely sounds like a good reason - when was the last time you opened up your case and sprayed it out? I have to do it at least once a month else my computer starts BSOD'ing on me constantly (granted, it gets *really* dusty here and this is a smoking household). Also, you can try going into the whatchamatoosit (hit F8 when booting) and disable the option that says "restart on error" or something to that effect
... Honestly? I'm REALLY scared of opening the case in case I break something or can't put the thing back together again!
I'm actually pretty sure that it's overheating, it is a bit warmer than normal, and I have no viruses on my comp and everything's up-to-date... *fails* I just have no idea how to go about cleaning the computer like that!
You can't break anything by opening the (left, assuming you are facing the front of your computer) side panel - there's nothing attached to it, it's meant to come off easily ^^ All you need to do is unscrew two or three screws and slide it off, then do the same thing in reverse to put it back on. Get yourself a can of air, take it outside because you will be choking dust otherwise, and have at XD Make sure to spray inside the fans, too :o
Yanno, I feel rather stupid right now. *laughs!* If it was that easy I would have done it before now! I think I'll give it a shot tomorrow afternoon. It's a bit late right now to be messing with it.

1. It's overheating.
2. There's a virus in your system.
3. Corrupted OS.
