Several of my favorite young actresses attended the premiere of the cute kids romantic comedy Flipped, held July 26 at the Arclight Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, CA. The movie opens everywhere August 6.
Madeline Carroll, age 14, dazzles in this bold, black-and-white summer dress. The simple-but-striking style is an unusual choice for Madeline,
who usually likes to pile on the accessories, but I think that this more mature look suits her perfectly. Madeline plays the film's female lead Julie and says, "Julie is a girl who hasn't ever had anything handed to her. She loves life and the smaller things. A really cool, down-to-earth girl. I think a lot of kids could relate to her."
Morgan Lily, age 10, plays Madeline's character Julie at a younger age. Some said that Morgan's tee shirt, jeans, and sandals were too casual for one of the film's stars, but I think her outfit is fun, age-appropriate, and adorable -- from the golden flower in her hair to her blue ankle bracelet. (The image on the front of her shirt is a ventriloquist dummy, a nod to the fact that Morgan and her dad both perform ventriloquism and magic.)
Stefanie Scott, age 13, plays Julie's best friend, Dana. Flipped is the first theatrical film release for Stefanie, who looked so lovely in this pale blue dress with diamond accents. The butterfly barrette and bright pink purse added a cute, youthful touch.
Sammi Hanratty, age 14, went with a black-and-white color scheme, just like Madeline, her contemporary and the film's star. But you won't hear any comparisons made between the two girls, because they're each stylish and beautiful in their own right. Sammi rocks this edgier look and makes it her own. I find it rather similar in style to the outfit she wore to
The Kids Choice Awards last April, but I'm not complaining because it looks so great on her.
Ariel Winter, age 12, is, refreshingly,
not as heavily made-up as usual. She looks cute in this navy dress with cherry-red accessories, but somehow, I'm not surprised that she attended.
