A glittering constellation of A-list young starlets came out for The Metropolitan Museum Costume Institue's Annual Gala. The event, known as prom night for fashionistas, was held on May 2, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Met Gala is known as a night when celebrities dare to wear something unusual and dramatic, and many of the young actresses there were in step with that theme.
Dakota Fanning, 17, and Elle Fanning, 13. Dakota's dress just what we expected of her. Over the last few years, she's shown little variety or creativity in her wardrobe (and she never does anything with her hair!). We're disappointed, but not surprised. Elle's dress, on the other hand... well, she's certainly trying something different, and we have to give her props for that.
And here's another pair of sisters:
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen, 24. Wow. You can bet that no one else in their age group is dressing like this.
Emma Roberts, 20. Emma isn't our favorite fashion icon, but she's worn a few interesting, unusual things in the past, and we're bummed that she went with something so safe and standard for the Met Gala.
Hailee Steinfeld, 14. Between the dull brown color and awkward cut of the hem, there's nothing flattering about this dress. But Hailee has shown such impeccable taste in red-carpet fashion so far that we'll forgive this one flub.
Kristen Stewart, 21. Kristen has always had unconvential taste in fashion (Remember the knuckle rings she wore to last year's MTV Movie Awards?) and this dress suits both her and the event.
Saoirse Ronan, 17. It's different, and we could get fully behind it if the skirt didn't look so sloppily-made. We like that her shoes don't match the dress.
