It was one of those days where Daiki felt very sluggish and sleepy, getting up in the morning has never been his strong point. With some muttered curses Daiki just about managed to get himself ready for classes. He just barely got into his class and he already couldn't wait for the day to end and get some sleep at home. Daiki felt himself watch the clock ticking away. What felt like forever the bell rang signalling the end of the day and Daiki was immediately off his chair and waving goodbye to his friend without giving them time to reply before making a dash for it. As he was walking home he felt a little weird and his gut was telling him that something bad was going to happen, coming to an immediate halt Daiki felt like he was being followed by something; and it wasn't human. If his gut feeling was right then he didn’t want this thing knowing where he lived, taking a deep breath Daiki made a dash for it completely going the opposite way of his house. It was in that instance when adrenaline kicked into action, he could just about make out a faint figure behind him. Coming into a dead-end Daiki’s heart pounded against his chest as he slowly turned around, afraid of what he’ll see behind. Pink eyes stared right back at Daiki’s own brown ones. A vampire; pink eyes gleamed in amusement and white fangs bared, Daiki knew he was in trouble. Moving back slightly against the wall, his eyes widened when he saw a ball of light coming towards him. With a hiss of pain, Daiki was on the floor as the ball of light hit his skin.
“Daiki-sama run, he’s going to kill you”
Daiki was too shocked to make a move and all he could do was watch as the man raise his hand to strike him. Closing his eyes, he waited for the obviously painful blow he will receive, after hearing a cry of struggle Daiki opened his eyes to see a figure in between him and the other vampire. He was tall and very thin he had a dark mop of hair that framed his thin face. Turning his back from Daiki he turned back towards the other vampire in the scene.
“Tsk! Next time” murmured the vampire with annoyance laced in his voice before fading away.
Daiki noticed the boy’s uniform it was familiar, remembering the guy Daiki bumped into a few days ago he left out a soft ‘Ah’. Grabbing the hand that was being offered to him Daiki pulled himself up.
“Um… Thank you very much for your help” said Daiki as he dusted himself off
“No problem” smiled the boy “What’s your name?”
“Name…? My name is Arioka, Arioka Daiki” answered Daiki
Daiki noticed the boy giving him a strange look along with the change of expression. It took him a few moments to once again speak.
“… Arioka?” said the boy “Never mind that, my name is Nakajima Yuto”
“Nakajima… Yuto” whispered Daiki as he looked at the boy who introduced himself as Yuto. Smiling he told Daiki that he needed to go, but being curious by nature Daiki had asked him about his uniform.
“School?” said Yuto “I go to a private school… and I really can’t tell you much about it”
Sensing that the boy didn't want to tell him any more about his school, Daiki nodded his head and watched Yuto disappear from his vision before making his own way home. With everything that happened Daiki was very jumpy and paranoid, he would stop occasionally, trying to be cautious of everything. Sensing someone watching him Daiki stopped and slowly turned around, not wanting to turn just in case it’s the vampire from before. With a sigh of relief Daiki internally laughed at himself for being stupid and continue his way home.

From somewhere just a few steps behind Daiki, two figure stood in the shadows with a smirk on their faces.
“Hmm Arioka Daiki huh?” said one of the figure “The secret son of the Arioka’s, this is going to be fun”
“Yama-chan… Play nice” warned the taller of the two “Don’t forget what we’re here for”
“Tsk! Keito, you’re such a party pooper” said the boy called Yama-chan “And my name is Yamada, not Yama-chan”
“Of course Yama-chan” laughed Keito as he avoided the shorter boy’s fist “Can’t you smell that?”
“Smell what?” asked Yamada as he looked back at the fading figure of Daiki
“It’s faint, but it is definitely there,” said Keito as he looked at Daiki, eyes narrowing “...He met him already”
Yamada’s stance become rigid and alert the moment Keito had mentioned him and shook his head.
“You’re saying he’d met him already?” asked Yamada “He’s not even awake yet...”
“I’m not sure Yama-chan, I do hope you’re right” said Keito “For now, let’s just stick to what we were ordered to do”

Arriving back home Daiki announced his arrival, receiving no reply Daiki just shrugged his shoulders. Lately, his parents have been out of the house a lot, seemingly busy with something they haven't told Daiki about which was weird. Normally his parents would inform him about everything. Making his way up the stairs and into his room he felt light headed and dizzy, without warning Daiki felt his legs giving out from under him.
“Huh?... What’s going on?” thought Daiki as he felt his eyes closing
- Daiki’s POV -
I opened my eyes and found myself lying on something soft but firm, squinting my eyes I let them get used to the brightness of wherever I am. I stood up slowly trying to get a decent footing when I let a gasp escape my mouth. I looked around and all I could see was a clear blue sky, with birds flying in flocks undisturbed. I had to be dreaming, right? This can’t be real… This kind of place does not exist… It was just so peaceful and undisturbed; it was full of flowers and deep green coloured grass. I was so captivated by the scenery until something caught my attention within the barrier of the bushes behind me. Feeling a pull towards that direction my feet unconsciously moved, taking a few steps I felt something push against me until I was sent flying back.
“Ouch, the hell?”
“That was a powerful barrier, it guards a very precious jewel and wards off any stranger” said a voice
I looked around for the owner of the voice and there he was; a tall figure was standing before me; it was a boy. The boy that had always been in every single dream of mine. I know this voice… It’s one of the softer and gentler voice I hear in my head.
“Umm... Excuse me have you been the one been guiding me?”
“Why yes that would be me” said the mysterious boy “Oh I humbly beg for your forgiveness.... My name is Ryutaro”
“Oh, my name is Ario-…” before I finished introducing myself he smiled and chuckled softly.
“Do not worry young one, I know you” said Ryutaro “I’ve been with you since you were born”
“Young one? Aren’t you younger than me?”
“I’m older than the earth itself Daiki-sama” smiled Ryutaro
Hearing that I suddenly felt awkward and so I stopped talking and started looking around, it was then that something within the bushes caught my attention. It was glistening it wasn’t strong but it was visible you just had to squint your eyes for it to be obvious.
“Go ahead” urged Ryutaro “Go to it”
I looked at Ryutaro, shock evident on my face as I figured this guy must be nuts. Why would I want to go to it when it literally sent me flying back? I saw him nodding his head and insisting, muttering I slowly approached it again this time with reluctance praying that it won’t happen again. Stretching out my hand as I reached for it when I felt electrifying pules and I immediately pulled my hand back in fear.
- End of POV -
“Don’t be scared, it won’t hurt you” said Ryutaro “I’ll assume you’re wondering why I brought you here”
Daiki nodded and let the boy continue his explanation
“First, I need you to reach and grab that gem” motioned Ryutaro “It’s okay, everything will be okay”
Daiki looked back at the bushes wondering where or how in the world a gem could be hiding in there. With nothing to lose Daiki nodded as he came closer again and this time when he felt the same electrifying pressure, Daiki ignored it and continued to reach behind the bushes. However, getting closer to it the air became tighter around Daiki, making it very difficult to breathe. All the tension in the air suddenly disappeared and at once Daiki found himself in front of a silver gem that was tightly attached to a wood.
“You see that gem? Only the pure the blood can approach that” Ryutaro smiled at “Reach for it, it won’t harm you”
A little reluctant to do so he felt a strange pull on his hands; it was as if it was telling him to reach for it. Then suddenly a bright light exploded covering everything in sight, Daiki covered his eyes only to find himself wrapped in clothes he was not familiar with. Black silk clothing that covered his body and a silver sword replaced the gem in his hand. Looking around Daiki noticed Ryutaro disappeared.
“Ryutaro-san?” Daiki voiced out
“I’m here Daiki-sama” said Ryutaro
“What is this?” asked Daiki
“This, Daiki-sama is your true nature” said Ryutaro
“True nature?” whispered Daiki
“Yes, your vampiric form” said Ryutaro “That sword will be the one you need to defeat the one that will upset the balance of the vampires and humans”
Daiki looked up and saw Ryutaro once again take human form before the sword once again returned to its gem-like state before disappearing. Feeling Daiki’s unsettledness Ryutaro begun to speak again.
“Do not worry Daiki-sama” said Ryutaro “It is merely residing in you”
Daiki felt a tingling feeling on his arm, looking at his arm he noticed a mark that wasn't there before.
“What’s that?” asked Daiki
“That mark is the proof of your heritage as the pureblood heir” explained Ryutaro “It is your family crest which the heir of the clan inherits”
“Is that so?” said Daiki as he traced the outline of the mark before feeling faint like earlier.
“I have kept you here far too long Daiki-sama” said Ryutaro “It is time for you to return”
Closing his eyes Daiki found himself back in his own house by himself. Looking back at his arm he noticed the faint mark there, he knew that it wasn’t just a dream.
“What did he mean the one I must defeat?” whispered Daiki “Ah, whatever”

Daiki’s parents returned home when they felt a strange presence, looking at each other they made their way towards Daiki’s room. Mrs Arioka looked at her husband with a pained look, having an idea of what had occurred earlier.
“It’s starting… There’s not much more we can do to prolong this any longer” whispered Mrs Arioka “He’s shown himself to Daiki”
“It will be okay…” said Mr Arioka as he tried to reassure his wife that Daiki will be fine. However, deep down Mr Arioka knew that the path his son will soon walk into will be a very dark and dangerous one. One full of deceits and heartache, all he wished from the boy is to be able to withstand everything “It will be okay, I will make sure of it”
