Okay, that's a lot, all right. I thought you got a year's severance pay that would carry you through to November, though? And it's only April now, which means there's time before your time runs out, no?
Chris might find he's in a similar situation soon - his company announced in Feb that it's going to lose 1000 jobs, but only today did they go public (i.e., an item on the local news) that 500 jobs would be lost at his workplace (the other 500 from plants around the world). Definite layoffs start May 1st; Chris turns 55 - and thus eligible for the lowest but still reliable pension on his 55th b-day, which is May 7. I think he'll be "safe" and won't get laid off, myself, but it's still a nail-gnawing time between now and then.
