It's an outer vest carrier. The Kevlar vest goes inside of it. Almost like a tactical vest, or the militaries load bearing vest. The carrier holds the vest, my Taser, an AR15 mag, pen, paper, etc...
It's hot where I work, and having a vest you can get some A/C behind is really helpfull in the summer.

And yeah....he was a big boy.

I'm pretty sure the pilot exceeds the maximum weight safety limits for standard empire issue Tie fighter...

There was also an XWing pilot, who outweighed this guy by another 50lbs. We were joking that he was Red #5 (the guy who "can't shake him") and this was his twin brother, who joined the dark side.

And yeah...I hate to post pix of myself, cause I figure people have a certain imager in their heads...but seriously, if Vader's 501st is around, you can't NOT take pix with them.

Oddly enough (or Dorkily enough), I have my own home made Tuscan Raider costume. I thought about taking a pic in uniform, plus Tuscan Raider mask and gloves....but I chickened out.
